Apple iPad2 unbox and quick setup

iPad2 was made available in US a month ago  and since then, a few reviews have been made online. So, I will not touch much about the specs, battery life or iOS4.3. I will do an Un-boxing experience and my first impression of touching this device for the first time. Since it is not available in Malaysia yet and it never made any presence in the Apple Stores here or in Asia.

Why I was interested to get the iPad2? I posted this last month : http://jllovegadgets.blogspot.com/2011/03/new-ipad2.html

How was my first impression? Well, read on…

The box is slimmer than the first ipad. So, what’s in the box?
  • iPad2
  • USB sync Cable
  •  10W Travel charger (Mine is US specs, so it’s a 2 pin)
  •  Manual in a nice, neat envelop box
  • Quick guide + EULA
  •  Apple stickers

I did a quick DIY for the power adapter so that I can charge up the unit. Posted it here http://jllovegadgets.blogspot.com/2011/04/diy-local-adapter-plugs-for-apple.html

By default, it already have some power in it, powering up will do nothing as you need to plug into a PC for the first time. You will need iTunes on Microsoft machines and for other Apple iMacs or MacBooks, just plug it in.

Preferred pre-requisite, iTunes with Apple ID and your details set on your computer… Since I already have iTunes setup (for wife’s iPhone4 apps), for me is straightforward.

A simple step up and I am already syncing apps, musics and podcasts into the iPad. I will cover it in another post someday on using the iTunes.

After the Sync In Progress screen is done, it will show the usual iOS screen... and am DONE! 10mins it's all it takes to set up and sync 20apps + games, my music, pictures and podcast from Apple Keynote!
